Well.... ahem....It's been a while (February) since I last posted something for Science Fiction Fantasy Saturday but I can only say 'absence makes the heart grow fonder'. And you missed me, didn't you? Yeah, I can tell....
Anyhoo, on with the snippet, and a recap - Steampunk Western Time! A Town Called No Hope is about an Englishwoman, Mona, with a dodgy past who has ended up as a Sheriff in a small US town in the 1800s. When we last spent time with her, she was on an airship bound for New Moray, on the hunt for a young lad who stole money from the bank and put a bullet in Mona's lover, Henry. To complicate matters, she's also got the attention of a flirtatious stranger called Sam who has joined her on her journey.
'Ah, Henry's the fella I saw you kissing before you boarded the ship,' said Sam.
'That's correct,' Mona said, eyes narrowing.
'But he doesn't speak. Dumb, I suppose,' Sam continued. It was the wrong thing to say. Mona had her gun pressed between his legs in an instant. To his credit, he didn't panic or move. He just stared at her. 'Obviously my mistake,' he said.
'Oh lord,' Woods said with a sigh, as if used to the Sheriff's quick temper.
